Average Joes = Dallas Cowboys

Now with the above subject title I bet you can't figure out where I'm going with this one, so just wait for it. If you check the Dallas Cowboys history books you'll see that they didn't play well, and often lost, when they wore their old blue uniforms in games. We have only scored 1 goal now when we wear our blues. The Cowboys seemed to finally break that string with Coach Johnson, we will break our streak this Saturday night against the Mud Ducks. Not to say they are easy, but both our teams are very new, and I believe we are the better team. But we still have to give it everything we've got.

Thanks to everyone who made it to Fuddruckers for dinner after the game. Chili's and Chedder's was just too crowded. I'd like to plan a few outings like this when we have an earlier game. It seemed like everyone had a good time and we had a few good laughs at dinner. Zee forwarded some pics so I'll try and add a few of them later today or tomorrow.

Congrats to Kent for winning the Player Of The Game Puck.

There will be a lot going on over the next month with the team so stay tuned for some cool announcements. See you all Saturday night at 11:55 in your BLUE jerseys.

  1. I'd like to thank all of you guys/girls for accepting me into the team...for being so willing to help me learn the game, for helping me learn to skate and learn how to play hockey...but especially I want to thank you for being so friendly.

Right now I can't spare the money to go to the training classes at Grapevine so I have to teach myself, but with you all helping me, well, its great.

My wife and I really enjoyed meeting at Fuddruckers the other night, hope we do more stuff like that.

    Anyway, thanks for everything......
OH.....I've learned how to properly exit the ice by keeping my head up and watching where I'm going, instead of having my head down and following skates - even though they all look the same.

  2. Aww Bruce, its great to have you on the team. Keep up the hard work, and bring your game face!

So even tho we yell and shout from the bench a lot, mostly its to get you pumped up to just skate skate skate!

And there are lots of off ice stuff you can do at home in your spare time...check out youtube and search off ice hockey skills/drills.

Its great to see the team gelling together!

  3. Bruce-- I can help get you set up with some dryland stuff. I have a ton of stickhandling pylons I built in varying levels of difficulty, and possibly an extra slideboard. If I still have any extra dismantled wooden goal frames you are welcome to one of those also. Greg and I have already discussed doing a 15-30 minute chalk talk before each game where the more experienced folks can help the newer folks a bit.

  4. I know JZ and I appreciate the motivation. I'm tuning in to you-tube.

Mike, I went up to NYTEX the other evening because I wanted Andrew-in the shop, to shorten my stick a bit. (When I stood the stick up to my face, it reached my eye level and I want it to be around my nose + I feel right now that I'd like to handle the puck a little closer to me). I'll see how it works Sat night. What I was leading up to, is that Andrew loaned me a practice ball that is supposed to resemble the puck's weight and movement, so I'm practicing that. Working with some equipment sounds great. I do the ball practice in my house because the garage is filled up with crap.

Anyway, I meant what I said, you guys/girls are great and I have alot of respect for all of you.

    Bruce.
